"I have been in stylist limbo for awhile. I need a stylist who can help figure out what is going to look best on me, and was doing a lot of online research to help me find the right place. I had read lot of good things about people coming into Salon Thor and getting excellent results, and I have to say I was not disappointed with my visit. I must have apologized to Kami half a dozen times for not really knowing what I wanted...short, long, whatever you think is best Kami (even though you don't know me). My few guidelines...no pixie, no purple, no green.
She gave me the most fabulous color! A bit lighter, but midway through she's asks if she could throw some auburn in, she thinks it would work for my style...um okay. Then followed up with a great cut, used some techniques I hadn't seen before and took a lot of the bulk out. I had the pleasure of meeting with Tyler, a fun artist who takes his work seriously and is truly invested in his clients. He made me feel so comfortable, as if I hadn't left my home salon. He gave me some blonde highlights with a hint of ash color to brighten my hairdo and face. His magic definitely worked!
He also took some time to show me how to put in simple beach waves with a curler and small flat iron. "Salon Thor is my jam! I found this little gem when searching for a new hairdresser so as always I let my fingers do the tapping on Yelp. After seeing the reviews, I decided to make an appointment (I love the on-line booking) and scheduled an appointment with Tyler.
Salon Thor is located in St. Francis and always has street parking. Everyone is completely friendly when you walk in, always offering a tea, coffee, or water while you wait. The salon itself is very modern, organized with a boutique feel.
I cannot say enough nice things about my stylist- Tyler. When I first met him, we went into depth about my hair goals, routine, and expectations. After speaking in depth, we came up with the perfect shade of red for me (not easy to do) and everywhere I go I always get compliments on the color! "After moving to Bay View, and not being the type of person who will drive 30 minutes for a haircut, I had to find someone new. I tried another salon before this one, which was a mistake. After one bad haircut and one badly-fixed haircut, I moved on to Salon Thor, which was a happy event.
I saw CJ once and she was great. But the next time I wanted to come in, I couldn't get her for weeks, and got Tyler due to his availability. He's a magician! Now I only go to him. I frequently change my hair, so I need someone who doesn't mind an adventure, and he is the perfect companion. He cares very much about the final product. He's pleasant, talented, and although it's not the cheapest salon in town, there's value for your dollar. Last time I was there we went over my scheduled time by probably 45 minutes, but fortunately I was his last appointment for the day so nobody else was stuck waiting. He didn't seem to mind, or if he did mind, he didn't let on.

Finally, finally, finally - I found a stylist that 'gets' my hair, understands my lifestyle and is completly chill. CJ is a gem and I'm sure I'll regret telling everyone, because it will only make it harder to get in to see her. She is skilled, precise, careful and really understands how hair moves and grows. These seem obvious for a stylist, but I can tell you it's not. If you want a haircut that grows out great, works well with your hair texture and compliments your face - see CJ. She's also a great colorist. When I walked into work today every single person I talked to complimented me on my hair - the color and cut.
